The ROH World Championship is a professional wrestling world championship created and promoted by Ring of Honor (ROH). It is considered the most prestigious title in the promotion. The current champion is Claudio Castagnoli, who is in his second reign. The title is currently defended on All Elite Wrestling's television programs (AEW being co-owned by ROH owner Tony Khan), as well as ROH pay-per-view events.

Samoa Joe had the longest title reign to date when he held the belt for 21 months and four days. During his reign, ROH held a cross-promotional show with Frontier Wrestling Alliance in the United Kingdom on May 17, 2003, called Frontiers of Honor. At that show, Joe turned the title into the ROH World Championship when he defended it against The Zebra Kid. Since then the title has been defended in Germany, Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Japan, Ireland, Italy, and Spain.

On August 12, 2006, the ROH Pure Championship was unified with the ROH World Championship after the ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness lost to the ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson in Liverpool, England in a title unification match.[2] The match was contested under pure wrestling rules, with the stipulation that both championships could be lost by disqualification or count out.

In 2010, the title belt, along with the ROH World Tag Team Championship belts, was redesigned.[3] The new belt has an eagle with its wings spread over a picture of the world with an ROH logo on the top. This design also includes various flags on different countries.

On July 3, 2013, the ROH World Championship has declared vacant for the first time since its inception, when ROH Match Maker Nigel McGuinness stripped then-champion Jay Briscoe of the title after he was sidelined with a storyline injury and would be unable to compete for the foreseeable future.[4][5]

Overall, there have been 37 ROH World Championship reigns and 30 total champions. The title has been vacated twice. The inaugural champion was Low Ki, who defeated Christopher Daniels, Spanky, and Doug Williams in a Four Way 60-minute Iron Man match at the Crowning A Champion event on July 27, 2002, to become champion.

Adam Cole holds the record for most reigns, with three. Jay Lethal has the most defenses, with 41; Kyle O'Reilly has the fewest, with 0. At 645 days, Samoa Joe has the longest reign in the title's history; Kyle O'Reilly's reign is the shortest at 33 days.

NEW YORK & STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Major League Baseball and WWE (NYSE: WWE) announced today a multi-year partnership to create MLB-inspired WWE Championship title belts and accessories featuring the logos of all 30 MLB Clubs from around North America. The new line of merchandise launches in 2022, marking the first time these items have been available for fans. This is the first official licensing agreement for WWE Championship title belts between WWE and one of the major U.S. sports leagues.

WWE has a long-standing tradition of creating custom WWE Championship title belts as gifts for many of the top athletes and championship-winning franchises around the world. Most recently, WWE created a Los Angeles Dodgers-inspired title belt to commemorate their 2020 World Series victory.

Boxing fans are hoping for a showdown in 2023 between Fury and unified heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk, who has the IBF, WBA (Super) and WBO belts in his grasp. If that fight were to happen, it would crown an undisputed champion in the heavyweight ranks.

Putting all of those titles and terms together certainly can be a mouthful. What do they all mean, and what is the purpose of them all? The guide below explains all the boxing hardware and phrases associated with them.

An undisputed champion is a fighter who holds all four major championship belts (IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO). Since the four-belt era began in 2004, there hasn't been an undisputed heavyweight champion. The last undisputed champion in the heavyweight division was Lennox Lewis back in November 1999, when he defeated Evander Holyfield in their rematch.

The WBA determines its mandatory challengers the same way as the IBF. The "Regular" heavyweight champion is Daniel Dubois and the "Super" titlist is Usyk. It is unlikely they will fight each other and instead will defend their separate belts.

Regarding the customary green belt, there are 161 flags of the countries that represent the sanctioning body. The WBC has four different types of championships. The Diamond belt, which is an honorary championship given to the winner of a historic fight, such as when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao fought in May 2015. The Silver belt is essentially considered a secondary belt. The Eternal Championship is designated for titleholders that have never lost the belt or retire undefeated while having a series of consecutive title defenses.

The World Boxing Organization is the youngest sanctioning body of the four major titles. The WBO came into existence in 1988. However, it wasn't fully recognized as a major world title until 2004, when it got the final blessing from the WBC. Like the WBC in the heavyweight division, a champion has to defend the title once a year. For Usyk, the WBO mandatory is Joe Joyce after he defeated Joseph Parker but no fight has been ordered yet. If he has to vacate the belt, the top two contenders would compete for the vacant championship.

Freebird Michael Hayes lost one of the NWA World Tag Team Title belts, which is why you saw Hayes and Jimmy Garvin occasionally coming to the ring with only one title belt during their run with the tag team championships.

As he prepared to leave, Lawler put the title in his bag. He then went to the restroom, leaving the title unattended. When the King returned, the belt was no longer in his bag. It has never been found.

Jerry Lawler had the AWA World Title in his possession after unifying that title with the World Class title, defeating Kerry Von Erich at SuperClash III. However, AWA promoter Verne Gagne changed his mind about the title unification and demanded the physical belt back.

The ROH World Tag Team Championships were the centerpiece of the feud between FTR and The Briscoes that dominated 2022. But after Jay Briscoe tragically passed away, his brother was left without a partner and therefore had no reason to keep defending the belts.

WWE superstar Mandy Rose left little to the imagination after stripping off by the pool and posing wearing only her championship belts. The 32-year-old "Golden Goddess" stood on a sun chair wearing nothing but sunglasses.

However, Rose used her two belts-the NXT Women's Championship and the NXT UK Women's Championship, which she just recently won-to conceal her modesty and conceal her figure.

Millican's love of pro wrestling and the belts never waned. He made belts for small wrestling companies on the side while working as a corrections officer and eventually got the attention of Reggie Parks, who was the big belt maker for the industry from the 1960s to the mid-1990s.

Making a championship belt can be a tedious process. Millican sets the metal plates onto the leather by hand in his garage, and brushes on layers of gold finish on his kitchen counter. He doesn't have any employees but does use specialists for some parts of production. The more basic belts can be made fairly quickly, but those for WWE are much more ornate.

"A single layer belt is something that we can typically turn out production time in a couple of weeks," Millican said. "Whereas you might actually spend months on something like the current WWE title, which has 630 [cubic zirconia] stones set into the baseplates." 041b061a72
